LOCKED TO
lingeringblast
[When Archer was first informed of this, he had thought this was some sort of prank his superior officer was trying to pull. There was no way that Lieutenant Colonel Maes Hughes had come into possession of some very interesting creatures. Archer's knowledge of chimeras was far from passable, but he brushed up on it after Hughes had told him that he might need Archer's help. He barely had a week's notice before Hughes casually told him that one of the subjects was going to be under his supervision for the time being. Hughes wasn't very clear on why, but he seemed to think that this one would respond better to Archer. Archer had insisted that he wasn't very good with animals and Hughes had given him a sad smile in response, but hadn't elaborated.
Needless to say, Archer really isn't sure what he's going to find down here.
There are several chimeras, but the one Archer is in charge of is in a separate room, blocked off by guards. They allow him in as soon as they see him and Archer immediately makes his way to the corner of the room, where the files are left out for him to examine. It doesn't take him long to figure out what he needs to know.
The chimera in this room isn't a combination of animals. It's a human combined with an animal. Theoretically it should be capable of speech, but there aren't any notes on that. In fact, the majority of the file is empty save for a brief description and a picture of the man this chimera used to be.]
...Zolf J Kimbley, the Crimson Alchemist...
[Archer remembers hearing about the trial ten years ago. He's surprised that Kimbley's still alive, but what else were they going to do with a war criminal? Subjecting him to inhumane experiments seems even worse than death, but who is Archer to complain? It's none of his business.
He sets the file down for the time being and moves further back into the room, allowing his eyes to adjust to the dim light. It's time to meet the thing he's supposed to look after.]
Chimera. Step forward.
[It's a command, of course.]
