LOCKED TO alchemicals

[He doesn't remember anything. All he knows is that there's a bright light in his face and he just wants to sleep. After a couple of minutes of tossing and turning he finally opens his eyes and sits up. The room he's in is perfectly white, without any sort of interesting features. There's a desk and a chair, but nothing on either of them. They're as white as the walls and floor, and on closer inspection, the bed he's in is just as white and spotless as the rest of the room. The sheets are a bit on the stiff side even though he's been sleeping under them, and the bed is kind of hard for his liking, so he finally squirms out from under the covers and stands.

The clothes he's wearing strike him as being wrong, though he can't recall what the "right" clothes would be. They're white - like everything else - and they're very simple. He doesn't have anything to compare them to, but the material is soft and kind of thin and feels a little odd. He shrugs off his confusion about the clothes and starts for the door. Even the doorknob is white, which strikes him as strange for about half a second before he yanks the door open.

The room that he enters is spacious. Like the room he woke up in, everything is white. There's a sofa, a small table in front of the sofa, and a couple of plush chairs. There's a couple of doors leading elsewhere, and his first order of business is to see where they lead. One leads to a perfectly white kitchen which isn't interesting right now (though some part of him wonders if the food will be just as white) and the other door he comes to is locked. There should be a front door around here somewhere though, right? He doesn't want to be here. He can't remember why he's here (or anything, really) but being here doesn't seem right.]

Yeah, well, I can't say I blame you too much; they seemed determined as hell to have us go crazy in here with the lack of anything to look at.

[He's just really sick of white, okay!!]

Yeah. Outside of the markers and the cards, there isn't really much to do either. I mean besides talk. Which is fine, I don't have any problems with that, but there's... not much else to do. And they gave us the cards, so imagine what it'd be like in here if we hadn't done... whatever it is they decided to reward us for.

...You know, that's actually a really good point. Are we being rewarded for doing shit?

I can't figure out what we've been doing right, if that's the case. Outside of drawing all over their stuff.

[deaftly]

Oh, I just sorta assumed that's what it was. I mean, I doubt they'd give us shit just because they're sick of watching us talk or anything. But yeah, I've got no idea what we could have been doing in order to get rewarded. I mean, we were "creative" which could've been why we got more markers but otherwise...?

[No seriously, what have they done that's worth getting a reward??]

Well, yeah, but people don't usually reward you for ruining their setup, so that's...weird. You'd think they'd reward us for drawing on the paper, punish us for fucking up the walls.

[deaftly]

Oh. Yeah, that's a really good point. I wonder why they gave us more markers then? They must've known what we were gonna do with 'em. And they didn't clean the walls or punish us for doing it so...?

[This is really confusing...]

So, they...want us to keep doing that, because you don't reward people unless you're trying to make people keep doing whatever it is they did. I don't get why, though.

[...This is really stupid.]

...Unless the white walls are like that to encourage us to draw all over them? Maybe the creativity they're looking for isn't in what we end up making, it's in how we solve the fucking issue they're giving us.

And we got the cards after I tried to solve the whole cannibalism thing.

If this entire thing is some sort of really stupid problem-solving exercise, I am going to be pissed, I can tell you that already.

[deaftly]

This is all really confusing but uh... I guess it can't hurt to try to work out whatever puzzles they've left for us? If they are puzzles, at least.

This entire thing is dumb as hell.

Even if we can't work out what they want us to do, at least we haven't been punished for anything yet. So I'm going to just guess that we're on the right track.

[deaftly]

[Naki nods energetically.]

Yeah! I'm not sure what exactly it is we're doing right, but apparently we're doing okay somehow! So as long as we keep drawing on the walls and shit, we should be fine!

[alchemicals]

Yeah.

Do you think there's anything we will be punished for?

[deaftly]

[Naki thinks for a moment. He's actually got one thing in mind already, but he's not sure he wants to say it out loud.]

Uhh... I dunno. I can't really think of anything.

[Yeah, sure, that sounds convincing...]

[alchemicals]

[Oh, what the hell is that for.]

...You're getting weird again.

[deaftly]

Uh... am I?

[Naki looks worried for a moment before he finally approaches Kimbley. Hope you don't want any personal space, because apparently he's just going to try to drop his voice to a whisper and explain himself!

...He's still pretty loud though.]

I think they'd punish us for trying to escape. Y'know, if we don't actually manage to get out.

[...NAKI FOR THE LOVE OF GOD can you not effectively speak loudly into his damn ear, he can hear you just fine...

That said, he does nod a bit at that, and he doesn't seem bothered by the utter lack of personal space.]

...Yeah. That one's kind of a given.

[He's quiet for a moment.]

We'd probably be separated for something like that. You know that, right?

[deaftly]

[Naki's eyes widen and they shift again. He looks downright terrified at that thought.]

Shit, you really think...?

[He's still trying to keep his voice low, but given that it's Naki, it's not going so well.]

S-So if we... if we fuck this up...

[ohhhhhh god]

Hey.

[He reaches up, running one of his hands through the back of Naki's hair while he speaks.]

I meant what I said, I'm not going to leave you alone. If that happens, I'll find you.

[deaftly]

[Naki nods a little, though he still looks stunned. At least he's not crying?]

...Y-Yeah. Yeah. If anything like that happens we'll find each other. That's a promise.

[alchemicals]

Of course it is. And besides, we're not going to fuck up, right?

[deaftly]

[That gets him to relax. Kimbley's confidence definitely helps.]

Of course we're not! We'll be just fine!

[He can't properly word it, but he really appreciates it.]

[alchemicals]

[Confidence is one of those things he can pretty much do at will, whether it's really warranted or not - so don't worry, at the very least he has plenty of that.]

Right - so don't worry too much, okay? We'll deal with that when we've got more of an idea of what we're doing.

[deaftly]

Yeah. Definitely!

[Naki looks much calmer now and the grin he's giving Kimbley isn't quite as unhinged as usual.]

But until then we can just... kinda relax here, I guess. We'll be okay. We're not in a great situation right now, but it could be a hell of a lot worse.

[alchemicals]

Exactly. We don't have any idea of what we're supposed to do, but it's not like we're being threatened with anything, right? This entire thing is weird, but we're being taken care of pretty well. So as long as we play nice we can stay here for a while.

[deaftly]

Yeah, we'll be alright!

[And the second they're not alright they can try to escape!!]
