Oh, he threatened to leak our secrets. Mine would have resulted in the death penalty for protecting ghouls, and my best friend and his family being hunted down and killed since they're not allowed to live.

[Well, that's fucked up. He can kind of see why, but yikes.]

I get why you did it, then. That's a hell of a motive.

I killed two people, so I... can kinda get that much, at least. I'm not saying what you did was right, of course.

...I killed one half of a pair of twins. I thought about killing both, but couldn't go through with it since Sol-san had been so nice to me.

That's a little messed up, isn't it? Leaving her to deal with the loss of her sister.

[glaciates]

...It's messed up no matter how you look at it. Maybe taking her life would have been easier, but there's no way to know for sure.

If I had killed her, I might've gotten away with it. But I didn't-- I drugged her and stayed up all night so I could give her more sleeping pills so she wouldn't wake up before the trial.

[ She can feel the sting of that thing she'd come to recognize as guilt in her chest. If she'd killed Sol, maybe she would have remembered to clean up the puddle and a proper night's sleep would have made her more prepared for the trial.

She takes a sip of her drink. Considers. ]

...Was it easy for you to kill?

[He isn't sure what to say to that and it's obvious, but Chie gives him a question he can respond to.]

...Yeah. I mean, I targeted a teenager who couldn't really fight back. The other guy could have fought back, but I had a sword and he had a useless one, so it wasn't like it was all that difficult.

It wasn't difficult once I got started. It was difficult coming to that decision and trying to prepare for the trial afterwards. And uh... the trial was tough too.

I planned on killing two teenagers instead because they were both detectives. But I couldn't do it because one of the girls was someone I really cared about. She found out about it anyway during the trial.

[It's all stated sort of blankly, like he's intentionally forcing the emotion out.]

I see the logic in wanting to get rid of two detectives - they pose a risk during the trial. Our detective was an adult man, and the coroner an adult woman; my choices were limited to the smaller participants for obvious reasons.

[ She is tiny as fuck with no physical strength to move an adult's body. ]

So I chose the teenage twins. Coming to that decision wasn't difficult. I just thought about it logically. Then I invited them to the game room, spiked their chocolate and once they were knocked out I killed one of them with perfume.

...Well, that's definitely a creative way to do it. I broke the teenager's neck and stabbed the other guy to death.

[And broke a piano in the process it was not great.]

Do you regret it? Not because you didn't get away with it and died, but because it was fucked up?
