RECOLLÉ - I;
[Denzel's not entirely sure when he became aware of the giant dome covering the city but suddenly he's very aware of it and it's not exactly pretty. He was just out walking one of his neighbor's dogs and now he's just standing there staring up at the sky with a blank expression.]

    What the hell...

[He finishes the walk as soon as he can (but not too soon; Daisy likes to take her time and he's not about to rush the poor old girl) and quickly makes his way back out into town. The dome looks like it covers the whole city, but he's a man on a mission. Denzel's going to head to the edge of town where the dome ends if he's not stopped on the way there.]

RECOLLÉ - II;
[Well, it looks like the dome is here to stay. Denzel's not content with just sitting around though, so he's out wandering the city with his hands shoved into the pockets of his coat. It's as he's wandering (trying to figure out what to make of the dome and all the other strange goings on) that a bright light suddenly appears in front of him. Considering how dark it is in here, the light is appreciated, even when it goes bounding away. Denzel doesn't hesitate, instead he follows it.

The light leads him to the subway tunnels and Denzel makes his way in. They've been under construction for what feels like forever, but maybe there's a reason he was led here. He takes out a flashlight and shines it around the dark interior once the light fades, frowning a bit as he continues deeper in.

Then a vine snags his ankle and tugs him down. Denzel lets out a yell, reaching for his flashlight, but it's rolled just out of his reach.]

    Gah, let go! Dammit...!

[Maybe you should help him out.]

MURDERGAME - I;
[Waking up in an unfamiliar location is absolutely not Dezel's idea of a good time. He was supposed to be with the Shepard; he just became a Sub-Lord and he has plenty of questions he need to ask. Unfortunately for him, it looks like someone else had other ideas.

Dezel's waiting in the foyer, arms folded and head tipped down so his hat obscures most of his face. You might feel a gust of wind when you enter, but that's totally weird because the whole place is sealed up, there's no way there's an opening in here, right?]

    Hey. You.

[Dezel pushes himself off the wall, though his arms are still folded.]

What do you make of those rules?

[He's already gotten someone to read them to him, but he's curious what the others trapped in here with him think about this situation.]

MURDERGAME - II;
[A week has passed and two people are dead. One was brutally murdered, her head bashed in with a blunt object from the vending machine. The second was killed by the shadows in the pit, executed for the murder of the girl. It's enough to make anyone reconsider their life choices, but Dezel's still alive and surely that counts for something.

The note under his door is ignored because he can't read it, but eventually curiosity compels him to leave his room. He finds everyone in the dining room and the kitchen, either preparing food or eating what was already prepared. Dezel doesn't need to eat so he doesn't, but finding them all gathered here is interesting. This is some kind of messed up funeral, isn't it? Then again, everything in this damn building is messed up, so it's not all that surprising.

He doesn't particularly care for anyone's company here, but he'll take a seat a little further away and listen in on conversations. You might feel the wind pick up a bit.]

MURDERGAME II

[personal profile] powerofhate 2018-01-27 11:20 pm (UTC)(link)
[To say the very least, the week has been a complete inconvenience. As far as Three is concerned, there were better things to do than be locked into a building with a bunch of humans and be forced to partake in this twisted survival game. It was such a mess, really; if the one running the game wanted them all to kill one another, why wouldn't he just give them the means to do so and watch the ensuing bloodshed? It confused Three, really, and while she had plenty of methods to make this go faster, she wanted to see how it would go. For experimentation's sake.

Needless to say, after the trial--which saw her far more awake than usual, even if it was in a manic sort of way--Three winds up walking to the dining room, hunched over and with considerably less energy than the earlier festivities. It's the feeling of the wind picking up and some of her hair getting blown around that gets her to look up a bit, seeing Dezel. Huh.]

You're partaking in these festivities...? [The words are punctuated by a bit of a yawn.] How curious. I did not believe you one to mingle among the rest of these caged birds...

[...]

Do you know why they've seen it fit to celebrate?

[...Huh. Three seems to shift a little, as if tilting her head a bit.]

They have only known both of them for one week. [It's. A bit bluntly stated; an observation.] Not even to a state that would be considered beyond an acquaintance. Yet they seem to be mourning both of them. They're rather perplexing, reacting as such when they wanted to right the wrong of the other's death...

[well gee maybe that's because people have something called empathy!!]

...You do not appear to be mourning. And yet you have decided to partake. What is it that you seek to obtain from this...?

[Compared to the varying levels of crying and quiet shounen determination that's in the room, Dezel is a bastion of sanity.]

...I see. So you cared for neither of them, then.

[It's an idle statement, with Three's usual level of apathy behind it. Still, if the way she gets herself a chair at least somewhat nearby is any indication, it held her interest for more than five seconds. Three crosses her arms over the table and rests her head on them, speaking up after a few more seconds of silence.]

I grew bored. After today...I still had energy left, and I could not sleep. So, I wandered...and it is not as if there are many places to go, in this building.

[Nor many places to sleep, with that stupid rule in effect. Three yawns again while she speaks.]

It might look strange...to the rest of them, as well. If I had not partaken.

[Three seems to shift a bit in response--moving her head a bit and closing her eyes some in thought. That is a good question. Three seems to contemplate it for a time, but...]

...It really does depend on a number of factors, but...I would say that they would. They all act like...they don't have breaking points of their own. Things that could anger them, things that one upstairs could threaten...

[That strange, almost manic tone seems to slowly come out while three says that, but it dies off quickly--there's a hard 'h' sound that comes out before people, before Three corrects it.] People are always like that though, aren't they? This won't end until the cage is empty...despite all of their shouting. That is what I think.

[That gets a bit of a soft reaction from Three--somewhere between a snort and some kind of laughter.]

Oh, I've no doubts it will. They aren't as strong as they'd like to think...they're in such denial over that fact. It's unusual.

[...Three lifts her head up a bit, fiddling with her hair--it's naturally gotten unruly due to how fast it grows. It'll probably be to the floor if they stay here too long.]

...I don't think I mind, however. I could have done without the inconvenience, but if they keep making these matters interesting...perhaps it will make everything worthwhile.

[Three laughs a little more explicitly; her words start coming out faster, and while it's definitely seeming to be in her matter of fact tone, there's...definitely mania behind it.]

That unity is going to be their biggest mistake. It always has been, among villages who accept outsiders with open arms. The village opens it's arms to a stranger without asking questions, believing every word from their mouth so long as they look pitiful. All it takes is one death to sow mistrust in the community, and then they'll only see each other as threats for the rest of their lives. They'll tear each other apart without even thinking.

[...Okay, now she seems to calm.]

...The strangers always seem to have it better in the end, if they make it out before anyone is the wiser. Perhaps that is the only way to 'win'.

[Three...well, she doesn't necessarily smile, but she seems to lift her head a bit.]

So you understand. Unless they give us another way, then only one of us will leave here alive. That's how it ends.

[It's a simple ultimatum, really. If anything, Three sounds utterly amused by it. She doesn't know a thing about Dezel, but he's definitely an interesting human if he talks like that.]

...I hope they make it interesting, again. If we have to keep going. Heh heh...everyone piled on them...I've never seen people grow to hate something so fast.

[Zaveid shouldn't be here, in the tunnels. The last time he was in deep tunnels beneath the city, he was nearly killed by a giant scorpion, and a seriously pissed off magical wolf. The fact that they're incomplete is just more creepiness added.

Maybe it's a good thing he's going spelunking here, because watching a man getting grabbed by a vine-- looking a bit too much like the the garlands that decided to snatch him in December.]

Oh, hell! You look like you could use help!
sivard: (☁ feeling bad what you did)

[personal profile] sivard 2018-01-28 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
On it!

[And boy is he on it, racing over to the guy, ready to tear at the vines. Hopefully they don't snag him, too!]
powerofhate: (ANNOYED Ⅲ Please stop talking)

[personal profile] powerofhate 2018-01-28 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
That's exactly it. That's exactly what makes it interesting.

[That gets a little bit of laughter, at least. It'd be light, if it were from someone other than Three.]

...But it's not like we can do anything to those people.
sivard: (☁ another day to run away)

[personal profile] sivard 2018-01-28 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
Don't mention it.

There's all kinds of weird crap happening around here at any given moment. I'm more surprised these things seem to be getting more common.

[What with the dome and all.]
powerofhate: (CONFUSED Ⅲ Did I leave the stove on)

[personal profile] powerofhate 2018-01-28 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
...They won't give it to us. Not unless they were really stupid.

[Then again this implies murdergame runners have common sense.]

You think there is a reason, then.
sivard: (☁ think about what you're not)

[personal profile] sivard 2018-01-28 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
Only people with the Retrospec app notice it, for whatever reason.

[He shrugs.]

I only noticed it when I saw people walking giant bugs instead of dogs, but as far as I can tell, that particular... weirdness... hasn't come back.
sivard: (☁ i may not be the chosen one)

[personal profile] sivard 2018-01-28 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Giant bugs.

[Apparently he's content leaving it at that!]

Since May of last year. I guess that means it's been damn near close to a year now. Huh.
