[ Robin... does not have the faintest idea how she managed to get locked in a room with goddamn Gangrel (did someone manage to stumble onto a trap that locked the door???), but she does realize that being locked in a room with the Mad King is probably going to end in one of them being very very dead by the time the door is unlocked.

she rather hopes it will be him who gets killed, but there's no guarantee when dealing with Plegia and her ridiculously schemey people.

her fingers curl tightly around the handle of her sword and she points it at him from the opposite side of the room. ]

[ ...not that Robin expects he'll take the offer but at least she tried! ]

[In hindsight, installing those doors with locks placed outside the room was a really stupid idea. Why did he let Aversa talk him into this again? Oh right, because Aversa's a troll. Ugh.

So that leaves him trapped in a room with that tactician from Prince Chrom's army. Lovely.]

Ohh? You really expect me to lay down my arms and grovel before you? Hah! Don't insult my honor, girl! I'll fight you to the death!

[That said, he doesn't make a move to strike first, instead watching her warily. She might have a tome on her, and if that's the case then he'll be in for quite the rough time. Switching between magic and physical attacks would be a decent strategy, but he could see her opting to use magic only to avoid having to get in close to him. Getting in close would render his sword practically useless, however, and surely she already knows that...]

[And so, another noisy but enjoyable dinner has passed for the Shepherd army. Of course, much to Robin's expectations, there's a certain absence here again tonight that she can't quite ignore.

Walhart she understands -- he's not entirely that friendly a person. Yen'fey's refused to think of himself as anything but a weapon, despite her best efforts.

But she'd thought she had at least made an effort to get Gangrel to come.

It was one of the reasons that Robin could say she was proud of Chrom -- even if he hadn't entirely forgiven the former Mad King, the fact that he'd accepted Gangrel into their ranks and protected him like any other meant he was on the proper road to doing so. It was because of that she'd invited him to eat with them, in some attempt to be friendly despite the fact that he honestly frustrated her half the time.

Even so, she knows she's the only one who'll do it, which is why she sets a plate right in his lap once she finds him.]

Even you have to eat sometime.

[ Aversa is probably having a good laugh about this wherever she is, at their expense of course.

under ordinary circumstances, she would already be striking out with her tome, but it has precious few uses left to it, and while using her sword is an option, Robin isn't quite as proficient with it as she is with magic. a weak spot she's scolding herself for even as she speaks. ]

So you say, but you seem hesitant to start anything. If it's me you're afraid of, I'm flattered.

[ so she goads him in hopes he'll make the first strike and help her decide her course of action. ]

[It is far too easy for Gangrel to get lost in thought and lose track of time. He's been doing that a lot since joining Chrom's army - a choice he never would have made had things not gone the way they had in Plegia - just sitting and thinking for long periods of time. Occasionally he'd come out of his dazes to talk to the others (never Chrom of course); he had found something of a kindred spirit in Chrom's tactician - the woman who had all but planned his downfall - Robin. She was fascinating in a way he couldn't quite describe, and he wanted her for himself.

Gangrel wasn't the sort to obey fate, and if fate had cast him from the throne, then he would happily give it the middle finger and take his throne back. Robin would be at his side and the citizens of Plegia would accept her as one of their own. He could see it now: the streets lined with citizens cheering, preparing to hold a grand feast in their honor--

And then said woman interrupted his thoughts with a plate shoved at him.]

Rather rude of you to interrupt a man when he's thinking!

[But he offers Robin a smirk and picks up the fork, pointing at her with it.]

So, have you thought about my offer, tactician? You would be a great asset to Plegia and with your help, we could easily mend the damage Validar has done!

Tch, oh please. I'm more afraid of your pathetic little leader than I am of you! And I'm not afraid of him to begin with!

[Well, he is very easy to goad, and very predictable. Gangrel raises the Levin Sword, calling the lightning magic through the blade to attack.

Robin might notice it, but his aim was a little off. Even if she didn't move the attack wouldn't hit. Clearly that's just a sign of stress.]

About as rude as turning down an invitation?

[She's more than happy to shoot right back about that one, Gangrel. At his question, however, she smiles a little, gently.]

I can see that you've been making a genuine, serious effort to change, Gangrel. And as such... I've been giving your proposal the same amount of serious thought.

[And then her face melts back into that serious, calm look she always sports.]

So I have a question for you. Why, precisely, do you want me as your tactician?

Then you're even more of a fool than you seem!

[ well, that was just a wee bit... awkward. that strike hadn't even come close to hitting her, and she doubts that he missed on purpose.

Robin reminds herself that it doesn't matter whether he had done it purposefully or not, because she certainly wouldn't, and seized her Elthunder tome to send lightning crashing back at him. please let it hit home... ]

[Gangrel leaps backwards, landing hard but managing to catch himself before he can fall over. The strike came too close for comfort and he fires off another one, aiming for Robin's head.]

Pah! You're the fool for picking a fight with me!

[Gangrel snorts at that, rolling his eyes. Robin's next statement does earn more attention, and the former Mad King grins.]

Excellent, excellent! You won't regret agreeing to this--

[Wait, she just said she's considering it. Oh. Well. This is a bit awkward.]

Why you? Well, isn't it obvious? You're the most skilled tactician I've ever seen! You're a kind person and one who will help strengthen Plegia after all the suffering she's gone through. Having you beside me will be beneficial not only for the country, but for you as well! I treat my closest confidants with respect, you know.

[A brief pause while he considers.]

...Though I suppose now I should treat everyone with some respect, hmm? If it's done anything, being treated as the lowest of the low has taught me just how horrid that feeling is. I will do my best to avoid unnecessary killing, just for you, my dear.

Says the man who can't unlock his own door!

[ ...wow this really is turning into a NO U fight, but before Robin can wonder how on earth she got into a NO U fight with the Mad King, his strike hits its mark and she stumbles back a step. she has practiced enough that firing a retaliatory shot back is automatic, but Gangrel's magic has left her a touch dizzy. ]

[...Okay, of all the things Robin expected to hear, that not was not a part of it.

Gangrel's sincerity makes her smile again, a little more pronounced this time. She's actually kind of proud of him for figuring this out and seeming to genuinely mean it.

...though the way he phrases it...]

You almost sound as if you're making a different type of proposal than just recruiting me as your tactician.

Could I be any more clear in asking your hand for marriage?!

[...Wait hang on...]

Er, one moment... did I forget that part?

[He laughs, the sound a bit sheepish.]

Well, I suppose I did! Very well then, I'll spell it out for you. Will you honor me with your hand in marriage?

Well it's not my fault the lock is on the outside! Blame the construction workers!

[Or Aversa, since she's probably behind it.]

I'll kill them once I get out of here!

[The retaliated attack catches him hard on the right shoulder, causing his whole arm to twitch and his grip to loosen on the sword. It clatters to the ground and he grabs at his shoulder in pain, wincing.

Gangrel is right-handed, but thankfully it doesn't take much to use the Levin Sword and he can manage it left-handed. He quickly grabs the sword and sends another bolt Robin's way.]

[...Okay, letting Colress move into his house seemed like a good idea at the time. They both had a bit of a love for research, it seemed--Nate was focused on a specific field of course, but Colress seemed to just enjoy all things science.

...The amount of stuff he was attempting to fit in the room though, uh. He's pretty sure that his mom wants to question it, but she isn't out of kindness--Nate does it for her.]

Hey, Colress--how much of the room are you going to need for your equipment?

[...Please don't crush him in, he needs room for his work and books--!]

[...There is no way in hell he can mean this, and it shows on Robin's face. Nope. Not believing this, never!! She rubs at her temples, giving an annoyed sigh before speaking]

Gaius, for the last time, I will keep your secret! I don't know how much plainer I can say it, and your offer isn't going to change that!

What?! No, you won't!

[ she scowls, even more determined to win and spare the poor dastards who had built this a terrible death. her scowl turns into a triumphant grin when Gangrel reels from her magic.

she endures this blow with a visible grimace of pain and has to wait to catch her breath before making her next move. Robin debates giving herself a one-up by making use of an Elixir for a moment only to opt for dashing in close with her sword drawn. it would be more satisfying to defeat him without needing to heal herself. ]

[ Apparently the island's got an arcade. Not that Peko's ever really been one for games; she doesn't recall even so much as touching a controller before. But she's standing around in said arcade, examining the colorful game machines as though they are alien creatures.

There is some sort of fighting game console with pictures of ninjas on the side. They are all illustrated holding their swords improperly. She frowns and presses some buttons to see what will happen. ]

[...Okay, definitely not expecting that. For a full second, Robin just blinks.

...and then her face goes a bright shade of red.]

You... what?!

[Congratulations, Gangrel. You knocked her completely off balance. It takes her a moment to compose herself, though that doesn't do anything for the new color she's sporting.]

You only ever spoke of having me as your tactician, not your wife.

[...But Robin won't deny it. Certainly, she viewed Gangrel with as much hatred as anyone else had, though she had put hers to work to stop him. But when they had picked him up out of that situation, she could tell he'd been shaken to his core.

And to be honest, Robin was never very good at holding grudges.

So, she'd watched him, in-battle and out. And honestly, she was actually pleased at what she saw. The former Mad King had followed her directions without hesitation -- he'd worked with the others on the battlefield like anyone else of the Shepherds would, and even he and Chrom could at least work together, ignoring the tension there.

...And in some part of that... Yes, she'd developed feelings for him. Not for the king, but for the repentant soldier who struggled to shed his old nature to find a new one.

She takes a slow, deep breath, her face returning to normal as she looks Gangrel square in the eyes.]

Assuming I were to accept, I need two things. I need to know if you regret anything you've done... and I need to know that you truly have changed and will stay changed.

Good morning, Nate!

[Colress is in the middle of studying the effects of electricity on his Magnemite. Which means that said Magnemite is plugged into a strange machine that's feeding off the electricity. Thankfully the power hasn't shut off. Yet.]

Ah, is my equipment taking up too much room? Oh dear, that certainly is a problem, isn't it? I believe I have everything I need out right now but I might have forgotten something!

Oh come on, Bubbles! I'm at the end of my rope here! What else do you want from me? I mean, I even offered you a date; you can't get much better than that!

[Kuzuryuu isn't a big fan of arcades, but this is a good place to get some space from the rest of his so-called "classmates." He's not even sure if he can consider them that, considering where they are and all the crazy things that have happened since their arrival. The arcade seems to be empty, except for one familiar face.]

Ah!

[He approaches, glancing at the machine and then Peko.]

What are you doing? I didn't think you'd be interested in this sort of thing.

[He should have seen that coming. Gangrel is usually much faster on his feet, but today just seems to be an off day. He stumbles backwards, losing his balance and falling to the ground.]

Gah!!

[He lands hard and rolls back into a kneeling position, bringing his sword up immediately to protect himself from any blows Robin might decide to throw.]

Do I regret what I've done?

[Gangrel laughs. The sound is genuine, as if the idea genuinely amuses him. It isn't the idea that's amusing, it's the fact that she has to ask.]

Of course I do! I led Plegia into a war my people didn't need. Your people didn't need it either and we both lost many good men and women in battle. Plegia has suffered thanks to me, and it's something I intend to atone for by working hard to rebuild Plegia!

[Another laugh. Gangrel sounds quite pleased with his idea.]

But! To do that I'll need someone to keep me in check! I have yet to come across anyone with as much gall as you, my dear; you would be ideal for the position of Queen of Plegia!

[Well. Huh. Robin smiles a little at that, clearly pleased to hear it.

Well...]

If that's so... then yes, Gangrel. I will accept your proposal.

Excellent! We'll have to start making preparations right away! Though I imagine that a wedding will boost morale among the people, so perhaps we ought to wait on that until I've taken back my throne... Oh, but then we wouldn't be able to have a very grandiose wedding; we'd need the finances to spend on the people after a conflict like that...

[Well, he seems to have gone off in his own little world of thought. At least he sounds pleased!]

[To say that Blues was surprised that anyone would eventually be rooming with him was... well, an understatement. Quite frankly, the "apartment" he kept was more because the entire building was abandoned, and he only really bothered to make sure the one he lived in was clean. It wasn't even really a home so much as somewhere he could take a nap without getting soaked in rain or cats all over him again.

But he was honestly too eager to help sometimes. When he'd seen her hurt and stumbling with a storm on the horizon and no one to help her, Blues had taken her back with him. What was he going to do, leave her to get wet and hurt even worse?]

Make yourself comfortable.

[Honestly easier said that done... there isn't much furniture besides the bare-bones that whoever lived here before abandoned.]

He is a little worried about the electricity that's going into the Magnemite--he's trying to listen for any sounds of distress at the moment, but he does turn back to Colress with a sheepish grin.]

That's alright, then. I just need a little space is all--don't want to limit you too much.

[...He is staring back at that Magnemite, though.]

Say, uh--what'dya got going on there?

[...Good god, she should've accepted those figs. What she would do to just throw something right now--]

Gaius, do you truly think I would keep pushing this if there was something I really wanted from you?

[She crosses her arms at this point, just...ugh. Gaius please.]

I'm at the end of my rope. What can I do to get you to believe me?

Hah, if you expect me to give up so easily then you have another thing coming, tactician!

[He manages to get back to his feet, breathing hard. She certainly good, he'll give her that. Who knew tacticians were so good at fighting? He raises the Levin Sword again, firing off another attack in Robin's direction.]

There's no reason for me to believe that you're just going to keep quiet! No one in their right mind would turn down an opportunity to get leverage over someone like that! That's just how people are, Bubbles!

[Sorry, Robin. He's still stuck on this idea.]

[Celes isn't above taking kindness from strangers, and she certainly could use it. There was a minor altercation in the bar where she had been winning a poker tournament. She had gotten caught up in it somehow and had been hit hard in the side. It made it more than a bit difficult to walk like this.]

[She gives him a smile, then settles in on the couch, folding her hands in her lap daintily.]

Oh, my! Do let me know if my equipment's taking over your space, Nate! I don't want to do that! As soon as I can move into my place everything will be just fine, I promise you that. You can even come stay with me!

Ah, here we have an experiment to see how much electricity a Magnemite can hold! I know the evolved forms can withstand quite a large amount of electricity, but I'm curious as to how much a single Magnemite can hold, and if it's three times less than what a Magneton can! I also intend to see if it varies by individual Pokémon! I'll need to gather more Magnemites, but hopefully that won't be too difficult!

[ the magic rattles her and takes more out of her than she would care to admit. still, she can and will fight, and pushes forward, swinging her blade with all the force she could muster. she has to win, she can't die here and leave Chrom and the others to die here! ]

Hmm...might depend on the level of the Magnemite itself too--I think you've got a good theory, but you might wanna consider that variable. [When he says he'll need more, though--]

Heh...just don't go overboard. As filled to the brim with Magnemites as the Virbank Complex is, I don't think they'll take kindly to someone with eighty Poke Balls full of them.

[He's joking when he says that--at least he hopes he can see that he is. ~~And he hopes he doesn't take the number as a literal figure.~~]
