LOCKED TO
viliorate
[Profits have been way down in the last three months, and if things keep going this way, they won't last another three. Archer has the papers out in front of him, scouring everything to see where he can make cuts, yet again. He knows no one's going to be pleased, but they're going to have to remove another act. He's been told that cutting people from the circus is like throwing out a family member, but the fact of the matter is that the money he's making won't support everyone. It's not as though Archer is hoarding all the money for himself - though he's not exactly as generous to the others as he could be - but he's never really felt like part of the circus "family". They're the family members, he's the landlord.
Archer twirls his pen between his fingers as he examines the numbers again, finally selecting a couple of sheets with acts that he could possibly cut. He'll have to get Kimbley to look over them before he makes a final decision. Kimbley isn't his partner or his adviser, but Kimbley is his friend, and he'd rather have a second opinion on all this.]

It's not very often they go out like this because of their finances, but he's never once complained about doing so.]
Were you? It's nice to hear it was on both our minds.

[Though you could stand to be more cautious. Maybe you'll pick up on that eventually.]
no subject
[Actually, it's pretty refreshing to hear Archer admit something like that.]

At least they're both garden-variety assholes instead of something more destructive.]
I'd say this is a good place to be thinking about. When things calm down some, we should come here more often.

No one let them know that this is actually rather cute.]
In that case, I look forward to it.
[But that's assuming things don't go to hell. With the economy in pieces, who knows what's going to happen.]
no subject
Of course. It'll be nice.
[Assuming everything stays the way it is, of course...]

...not complete strangers, mind. But maybe the other circus performers.]
Yeah.
[....]
We should do things like this more often. Just you and me, not thinking about work.

[He's still smirking when he says it though.]

[It's as much a point of pride for Kimbley as it is an irritation for Archer.]
no subject
[He's still smirking though, if only because Kimbley seems so pleased with himself.]
no subject
Maybe not.
[...but he likes to think it's a good thing.]

I suppose it's alright this once.

It's fine!]
Glad to hear it.
no subject
Don't get used to it.
no subject
[This is going to make him try harder, you know.]

I really do enjoy spending time with you like this. It's nice.
no subject
[He looks pleased.]
I've always enjoyed being around you.
[.....this is really sentimental of him.]

He doesn't usually ever talk about it, but they are spending time with each other in a way they don't normally.]
I wouldn't leave.
[He probably doesn't even need to say that.]
