honkai: star rail voicetesting
Hey all, you know exactly what this is: another voicetesting post! This time it's Honkai: Star Rail-flavored. Listed below are the characters I'd like to voicetest. I have prompts available for them in the comments below!
By default, I will be avoiding spoilers since it's pretty easy with most of these characters. If you want to get into backstory stuff, there likely will be spoilers, so please be aware of that. If you'd like to do spoilery threads, just let me know, and I'll mark spoilers appropriately in my comment headers.
The prompts I have are all murdergame themed, of course. Listen, murdergame settings just work really well for voicetesting for me, don't ask questions!! I am perfectly fine with other settings if none of these prompts speak to you or you'd like to do something different! I love crosscanon threads, OCs, and assumed CR so feel free to throw whatever at me!

Paranoia.
Betrayal.
And yet, there are those who have only doubled down on their refusal to give in. Caution has not not faltered to instability. It's fascinating to watch the way his peers respond to each murder by becoming more bonded and defiant. They adapt and cope the same as before.
Although... the party is a bit much. And Alhaitham has also been forcibly dragged into things by The Extroverts and now he and Boothill are locked in a closet. Don't ask me the details.]
Are we? [He raises a brow. There is the obvious other solution but he's taking that as Boothill rejecting the idea.
So he reaches into his belt pouch. And pulls out a book.]
no subject
Well, yeah, figured you probably wouldn't wanna— You're just gonna ignore me?
[wow, rude???????? how could you do this to boothill who thrives on attention???]

no subject
Not like you've given me much of a chance, you know.
[But he peeks over Alhaitham's shoulder to try to get a look at the book.]
So what's it about? If it's caught your interest that hard, it better be a muddle-fudgin' amazin' book.
no subject
Without looking up:] It only has to be more interesting than you. Are you incapable of sitting still for a few minutes?
no subject
How the fudge is this more interestin' than a person?
[He just sounds baffled rather than offended, but he has one takeaway here: Alhaitham is a big, huge nerd.]
And yeah, I didn't exactly come prepared to sit in the dark for seven minutes.
[He can't even stretch out in here!! Terrible.]
no subject
[And there is only one man who he's willing to entertain ceaseless complaints from. Not Boothill.]
It's an easy choice between listening to that or this book.
no subject
[The sound is annoyed, but Boothill can tell this is a losing battle. So he'll switch tactics.]
Why don't ya tell me 'bout yourself, then? What is it that you do, where you're from?

exploration
Dan Heng had checked out the library first of all, but most of the books are bland fiction or written in a dialect he's never seen — which is strange to him in and of itself. Suffice it to say, there wasn't anything to be learned there, either. It's actually only chance that they run into each other again.
He's not really big on games like this, though he idly thinks that Caelus might enjoy some of them. But there's one Galaxy Ranger cyborg tearing it up at a machine. Dan Heng finds himself stopping to watch. ]
Oh, no. I think you're doing well enough on your own. By all means, continue.
no subject
Where's your fightin' spirit? C'mon, join me! Promise I won't kick your ads too badly.
[He will gladly continue to play DDR if left to his own devices, but now he's curious how Dan Heng would do with this little game. Admittedly, this isn't exactly productive, but he's had no luck finding anything useful so why not take a break and enjoy some dumb game?]
no subject
[ He says with a sigh, not even wanting to repeat the phrase. ]
— has nothing to do with playing games.
[ It isn't productive, but that's not his beef with it. His problem is how public this is. He seems a lot more unflappable than he is, and the idea of doing some silly dancing game and being terrible at it where other people can see is just too much to deal with.
Despite his argument, he hasn't walked away, either. He should! He should just turn and walk out of this arcade. But... ]
You shouldn't assume you'll win, though.
[ Maybe he has been spending too much time with both Caelus and March. ]
no subject
Yeah? So you gonna prove me wrong?
[He gestures to the machine with a smirk. C'mon, Dan Heng, you know you want to...]
no subject
Of course Dan Heng knows better than to rise to bait like this. He hesitates, telling himself to just walk away and go do anything else.
In the end, maybe it's just pride that wins out, the annoyance at the assumption that he would lose grating on him. Anyway, it's not like he's found anything useful to do here. ]
One game.
[ He's insistent about that part, at least for the time being. ]
You first, since you're already here.
[ He wasn't really watching closely last time. He wants to see how it's done; this is a strategic move on his part. ]
no subject
Sure, I'll give ya a leg up so I don't crush ya too badly.
[Wow!! Anyway, he selects a song at random - something fast-paced and busy with arrows from the looks of the preview - and gets started. Boothill is a quick learner and this sort of thing is easy for someone with his reflexes. If you can dodge a bullet, you can play DDR.
He reaches the end of the song with a decently high rank; still room for improvement, but a good showing none the less.]
You wanna pick the song out for us?
[This is a two player DDR set so there's a second pad of arrows for Dan Heng now that he's seen how it's played!]
arrival
Perhaps, then, it's a good thing that the room is quiet. Only the sounds of their breathing are heard.
Norton would prefer to be out of sight for now, until he can be sure that he is safe.]
no subject
Yeah, a muddle-fudgin' son of a nice lady who can't even be bothered to show themselves is a coward, don't ya think?
[...he's assuming that Norton is the mastermind here, sorry Norton.]
no subject
[Norton will have to correct him then.
He cracks his back and neck as he pushes off the wall he's been leaning against, before he no longer has to crack anything, bone giving way to rock as he walks towards the light. Becoming "Fool's Gold" has always been a process, one that he will never enjoy, but when he has actually become his other half, he can never resist the power this body gives him.
It's with this body that he greets the stranger who has the audacity to accuse him of masterminding this. He's not so roundabout with his ways of killing people.
He might as well be blocking out light with his size, even if he's already in it. Though that doesn't stop any from peeking through the hole in his torso, or the little gaps between his stones.]
Could you repeat everything you said? [Even his voice has changed, due to a lack of lungs. Everything is now much raspier, almost like one who can only whisper, but must raise their voice in order to be heard.]
motive;
But, as for Welt, he is holding his envelope. Is it because he is a coward, that he hasn't opened his as of yet? It could be any number of events...the unlimited possibilities having him reluctant to gaze upon even one. So instead, he raises his head, turning his attention to Boothill, letting out a sigh in a puff of air. ]
...Once again he has tried his hand very hard at forcing others to play along with his ill-conceived game.
[ He pushes his glasses up to the bridge of his nose. ]
Do you mind if I joined you on your walk?
