LOCKED TO alchemicals

[He doesn't remember anything. All he knows is that there's a bright light in his face and he just wants to sleep. After a couple of minutes of tossing and turning he finally opens his eyes and sits up. The room he's in is perfectly white, without any sort of interesting features. There's a desk and a chair, but nothing on either of them. They're as white as the walls and floor, and on closer inspection, the bed he's in is just as white and spotless as the rest of the room. The sheets are a bit on the stiff side even though he's been sleeping under them, and the bed is kind of hard for his liking, so he finally squirms out from under the covers and stands.

The clothes he's wearing strike him as being wrong, though he can't recall what the "right" clothes would be. They're white - like everything else - and they're very simple. He doesn't have anything to compare them to, but the material is soft and kind of thin and feels a little odd. He shrugs off his confusion about the clothes and starts for the door. Even the doorknob is white, which strikes him as strange for about half a second before he yanks the door open.

The room that he enters is spacious. Like the room he woke up in, everything is white. There's a sofa, a small table in front of the sofa, and a couple of plush chairs. There's a couple of doors leading elsewhere, and his first order of business is to see where they lead. One leads to a perfectly white kitchen which isn't interesting right now (though some part of him wonders if the food will be just as white) and the other door he comes to is locked. There should be a front door around here somewhere though, right? He doesn't want to be here. He can't remember why he's here (or anything, really) but being here doesn't seem right.]

I guess I didn't really have anything to cry about? I'm not sure. I just get the feeling that it's really easy to get me to cry.

Huh. Maybe this just isn't the sort of shit you usually cry about.

[...That's...really awkward, and so is the next thing he's about to say, so he might as well just throw it out there.]

...I don't know if I've ever had anyone cry like that over me before.

[deaftly]

A-Ah...

["Awkward" isn't how he'd describe that judging from the way he's getting teary-eyed.]

W-Well-- you have me!! You'll always have me!! And I'll be sure to cry over you a lot to make up for it!!

H-Hey, hey, you don't have to cry over me at all is what I'm saying!!

What!? If I don't cry over you and no one else cries over you then that's just depressing!!

[NAKI STOP]

Why would I want anyone to cry over me?!

Because that means I care enough to cry over you, obviously!!

...Oh.

[And that, miraculously, has gotten him to shut up.]

I hadn't thought of it like that.

[deaftly]

See? I mean maybe your other friends just don't want to cry for whatever stupid reason, but when I'm crying over you it means I really, really care!

[He gets the feeling he's done this for someone else before, but that's not important right now.]

Oh.

[He actually kind of mulls that over for a moment, before - ]

...Wait. If you care about me like that, why the hell would I want you to cry?! That's just sadistic.

[deaftly]

[...You do have a point there...]

Well, yeah... So maybe you shouldn't want me to cry, but you shouldn't be bothered by it either? I mean, it's something I do. It's not something I'm just gonna stop doing. I'm pretty sure I couldn't stop even if I wanted to.

[alchemicals]

[That...doesn't seem right, though.]

If I don't want you to cry, I'm going to be bothered by it when you do, though. I kind of get that you can't help it, but still.

[deaftly]

But it's not a bad thing? Well, sometimes it's bad but crying is um... shit, I know there's a word that describes it perfectly but I can't remember what that word is.

[He tries to think of it for a moment before giving up with a slight shrug.]

Well, it's kind of good to get it all out, you know? So it's not always bad. I think I just get worked up easily so I've gotta let it out somehow and it's better crying than breaking shit, right?

[alchemicals]

...Cathartic? I think that's what you want.

[deaftly]

I think that's it! It sounds kinda sorta familiar!

[Look, he's really bad at words, especially big ones.]

[alchemicals]

Either way, it's good that you're not breaking our shit, yeah.

[It's...about then that something seems to occur to him, belated though it is.]

You know that you're important to me even if I don't cry over you, right?

[deaftly]

Huh?

[That seems to catch him completely off-guard and Naki shifts so that he can get a better look at Kimbley.]

Yeah...? I mean, you said as much, right? I don't think you'd lie about something like that. You're probably just one of those people who don't cry very easily or something.

[alchemicals]

[That gets him to relax a bit, at least.]

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what it is. At least, I haven't found anything so far that's made me want to do it, so I guess I'd say I don't.

[deaftly]

And that's alright! I don't think everyone handles shit the same way I do, so it's fine if that's not something you do. I don't mind and I don't think that means you care about me any less!

[He thinks for a moment before continuing.]

...Did I make it seem like I did? 'Cause if I did that's not what I meant!

[alchemicals]

Nah, you didn't. I just wanted to make sure we were on the same page, that's all.

[...]

...You're a really good guy, you know that?

[deaftly]

Well I dunno about that... I did say I'd be perfectly fine killing some guys, so...

[He's teasing though and after a moment he laughs. It's easier to just ignore the cannibalism thing.]

But I'm not gonna argue that I'm good to you! You deserve it!

[alchemicals]

Well, yeah, but if they're guys who're giving you problems they deserve whatever they get.

[Really, if he's at all off-put by the notion of just smashing some heads, he's doing a great job at not showing it.]

...I don't know if I'd say I deserve it, but thanks, okay?

[deaftly]

You've been really good to me, so as far as I'm concerned of course you deserve it!

[alchemicals]

Yeah, well. Maybe you deserve it, too.

[deaftly]

[Naki laughs again and settles back against Kimbley, still grinning stupidly.]

You better watch it or you'll inflate my ego to dangerous levels!
