Sure, he could understand why it's... Objectively upsetting to send someone to their death because of an accident, but he's not upset by it. Maybe it's because she was a stranger, maybe it's because he just doesn't like everyone, or maybe it's because she still denied what she did and tried to hide it, knowing full well that that would put everyone's lives in danger.
But he was quiet, for the most part; he agreed with Ryuunosuke pretty readily, he pointed out the evidence, but otherwise he kept his mouth shut and his opinions to himself, because if they want to be sad about a girl who made a mistake and played with their lives, that's on them.
He still hates them and has no inclination to go to their afterparties- which are really kind of morbid if you ask him- so after a quick trip to the kitchen, he makes his way to Ryuunosuke's room.
He has eggs. ...And rice! That's a little variety. He pushes the door closed and offers a plate over to Ryuunosuke.]
[Ryuunosuke looks up when the door opens, though he's quick to return to his notes and finish whatever he was writing before setting them away. He's not as worried about Silver seeing them now; he's fairly sure Silver can't read Chinese anyway.]
Oh, thanks.
[He takes the offered plate with a nod and digs in, because why the hell wouldn't he, he loves food.]
Are you alright?
[The question is a familiar one - they all ask each other that even though it's the dumbest thing to ask in his opinion. But apparently that's normal and he's going to have to try really hard to pretend to be normal now.]
[It's not as if he were personally negatively affected, and sure, it wasn't pleasant to watch the execution, and he's still kind of annoyed, but... He's fine.]
[...There's something that bothers him when Ryuunosuke does that, but he doesn't know what or why. It's just... strange. The times when he does it are strange.
Sure, it's not strange right now, but...
Silver settles down on the floor. Eats for a moment. Considers what to say.]
Want to talk about it?
[That's something he wouldn't offer to anyone but Ryuunosuke, but... Here he is, offering it anyway.]
[Aaaand smile with his eyes closed. There we go, that should totally dismiss it and reset the status quo to "normal". It's worked on everyone else, at least.]
[Oh shit, even literal forest child Silver has caught on?? Is everyone else aware of this? Can they all see through him so easily? Shit shit shit shit shit—]
I don't know what you're talking about, Silver.
[He laughs, closes his eyes, and rubs the back of his head. It's not very convincing at all.]
[That just sort of happens before he can really think about it. The correct response would have been reassurance and more smiling and probably busying himself with his food so Silver wouldn't look at his eyes, but here we are anyway.]
[Well damn, Silver definitely isn't going to make things easy if he really wanted to move...]
I'm not going to do something like that.
[He doesn't look away and while his voice and expression are firm enough to make that believable, there's no change in his eyes. They always look dead like that.]
Ahh, I don't know what you're talking about! I'm just a normal guy, Silver. I'm not any different from anyone here.
[He manages that as he's turning back to the food Silver brought him, but while his voice sells it, his expression doesn't. He looks as even and cheerful as always, but that doesn't fit at all with how he acts during trials.]
I studied some things while I was attending college and I've got an overactive imagination, that's all.
[Well, he's pretty sure the dream was just a dream, but there really isn't any way to explain the body investigations. He's given at least three different versions of why he's doing that because somehow it never occurs to him that people will ask about that.
He's not addressing the latter part of that because he honestly has no idea what to say.]
But she did deserve it. Even if it was an accident like she claimed, she still tried to get away with it. So obviously she was playing the game and by those rules, once she was found she was going to die.
[It's all really straightforward to him. He doesn't see how there's any room for arguing that.]
I don't understand how they could like her that much to put their own lives at risk anyway. They've only known her for a couple of weeks.
I mean, some people are just that nice, I guess, and maybe I'm missing something because I don't like any of them, but... This whole situation is sad. It sucks that the only way out is to kill people, and it's bad that we have to put people to death, too. What makes one stranger's death so special? Is that what made everyone realize that we're killing each other to save our own lives? It wasn't any different the first time.

[It's not as if he were personally negatively affected, and sure, it wasn't pleasant to watch the execution, and he's still kind of annoyed, but... He's fine.]
What about you?
no subject
...I've been better.
[Give an answer that doesn't say anything of value. Check and check. He's got this.]

I don't understand you.
no subject
[Hang on, that's not part of the predicted response...]
What do you mean?
no subject
But you always look away or close your eyes. I can't tell what you're thinking at all.
[He says casually, then munches on some of his eggs, like it ain't no thing.]
no subject
[Oh shit, even literal forest child Silver has caught on?? Is everyone else aware of this? Can they all see through him so easily? Shit shit shit shit shit—]

[He hit the nail on the head, didn't he. He looks at Ryuunosuke for a little longer, then lets out a quick sigh.]
Well, whatever you're thinking, I hope you don't secretly hate me or something. You're the only person here that I like.
no subject
[That just sort of happens before he can really think about it. The correct response would have been reassurance and more smiling and probably busying himself with his food so Silver wouldn't look at his eyes, but here we are anyway.]
If I hated you I wouldn't let you stay in here.
no subject
[Would you like to be any more paranoid, buddy.]
But like I said, I like you. I don't want to believe something like that.
no subject
I'm not going to do something like that.
[He doesn't look away and while his voice and expression are firm enough to make that believable, there's no change in his eyes. They always look dead like that.]
Do you really think I would?
no subject
I don't know.
[What an answer.]
That's why I want to get to know you better. I want to understand you.
no subject
[He manages that as he's turning back to the food Silver brought him, but while his voice sells it, his expression doesn't. He looks as even and cheerful as always, but that doesn't fit at all with how he acts during trials.]

[...]
No, really, no offense at all. If everyone else was normal, normal is stupid.

[You're not getting out of this so easily, Ryuunosuke.]
no subject
[oh jeez]
Well, someone has to take things seriously!
[There is no getting out of this, is there.]
no subject
[...Well, he is.]
Did you really not care?
no subject
By the rules of the game, she killed someone. I don't see why everyone's upset about it.
[There you go. Ryuunosuke's words have slipped back into the more serious tone from the trial and his expression is colder to match it.]
no subject
How the fuck does he even explain this.]
...They liked her, I guess. People get more upset when it's someone they care about. Or when it's someone they think doesn't deserve it.
[...He says it, sure, but he doesn't seem entirely certain about what he's saying.]
no subject
[It's all really straightforward to him. He doesn't see how there's any room for arguing that.]
I don't understand how they could like her that much to put their own lives at risk anyway. They've only known her for a couple of weeks.

[That's... That's exactly the way he sees it.]
