honkai: star rail voicetesting

Hey all, you know exactly what this is: another voicetesting post! This time it's Honkai: Star Rail-flavored. Listed below are the characters I'd like to voicetest. I have prompts available for them in the comments below!

By default, I will be avoiding spoilers since it's pretty easy with most of these characters. If you want to get into backstory stuff, there likely will be spoilers, so please be aware of that. If you'd like to do spoilery threads, just let me know, and I'll mark spoilers appropriately in my comment headers.

The prompts I have are all murdergame themed, of course. Listen, murdergame settings just work really well for voicetesting for me, don't ask questions!! I am perfectly fine with other settings if none of these prompts speak to you or you'd like to do something different! I love crosscanon threads, OCs, and assumed CR so feel free to throw whatever at me!

INFORMATION:
i don't know what you expected tbh
BOOTHILL
A Galaxy Ranger devoted to upholding his own brand of justice. Boothill is a cyborg with the vast majority of his body replaced; something he pretty much always manages to avoid talking about. One thing he can't avoid is his built-in swear filter that forces him to use nicer language. Well, if you call things like "muddle-fudgers" and "well fork me" nicer language. Though he is generally more chaotic good, he's perfectly fine killing anyone who stands in the way of his revenge - look out, IPC.
SAMPO KOSKI
An exceptionally shady salesman who just can't seem to keep himself out of trouble for more than five minutes, Sampo is an absolute disaster of a person. He can and will sell anything he can get his hands on, with little care for any sort of respectable business practices. If it seems like he's up to something, it's because he is - Sampo's a man with a plan, but what that plan actually is will always be a bit difficult to pin down. Just like Sampo himself! He has a tendency to go missing just when you think you actually need his help... but he won't hesitate to ask for yours!
AVENTURINE
While he is a member of the IPC, Aventurine does things his own way. A born gambler, he greatly enjoys making bets and seeing how things turn out - and his luck has gotten him this far, so surely it won't run out any time soon. Though he may treat everyone as a friend, you'd better look out; you never know what Aventurine is truly thinking behind that smile, after all. He deeply desires his freedom and despite all the glitz and glam of his current profession... he still doesn't have it. Maybe someday things will change.

AVENTURINE
Age: 24 | Species: Avgin | Occupation: Senior manager of the IPC Strategic Investment Department
Likes: Gambling, bets, making "friends", freedom.
Dislikes: Plans going awry, getting close to others, being used, the IPC.
Traits: Flamboyant, confident, manipulative, anxious.
Trivia: Aventurine has wagered his life multiple times!

meeting;
[It seems that someone here has some sense, given that they've left simple messages in every room requesting a meeting in the dining hall. We've been here for only a few days, but it's been made clear that this "Benefactor" of theirs is not messing around. Those rules aren't just for show - something Aventurine knows quite well, given that he contacted the Benefactor to ask several questions about how things would go once someone does murder. He's been given vague, frustrating "information" that doesn't really help any. Still, perhaps someone has found something interesting; likely not a way out, however.

Aventurine shows up to the meeting on time, taking his sunglasses off with a practiced flourish as he takes a seat. Why is he wearing sunglasses inside?? Don't ask questions.]

Good of you to call this meeting. Shall we get started?

[And get started they do. People share what they've found - or rather, what they haven't found. Some theories are thrown out for what the Benefactor truly wants from them, some people claim that no one here will ever kill, and there's at least three verbal fights about dumb and unimportant things. Aventurine manages not to roll his eyes, but his expression goes from the usual easy, practiced smile into a frown over the course of the meeting.

Afterwards, he slips his sunglasses back on and leaves... though he only goes as far as the kitchen. It's very close to the dining room, and he calls you over whenever you look over.]

Hey, friend. Care to share your thoughts on our little gathering?

afterparty;
[So here they are. Someone chose to kill and left quite a mess, which most of the others investigated and talked at length about in a "trial" to find the guilty party and "bring them to justice" - that is, voting for them to be executed.

Aventurine has been very quiet since the explanation about the votes was explained, a hand at his mouth as he watched the following proceedings. The killer explained their difficult situation at home, and though they admitted to their crime and insisted they should be voted for, they seemed very shaken up as they were killed by a terrifying mass of shadows that simply consumed them whole.

The silence on the elevator ride back up had been deafening.

And yet some brave fool decided to hold a gathering - to remember those who were lost, and maybe to comfort those still living. Aventurine decides to go - after all, what better way to find out who's been rattled by this than to see it first-hand? It seems likely that someone just as desperate as their killer today will act next and perhaps he'll get some hints on that from the others' behavior today.

So he ventures to the dining hall, taking a seat nearby and occasionally sipping at a cup of cooling coffee. He watches intently behind his sunglasses, studying everyone with a careful eye.

When you get near him, he raises a hand in greeting.]

How are you doing after... well, all of that?

[A dumb question, perhaps, but Aventurine's good at playing dumb.]

exploration;
[With the deaths last week, a new floor has been opened. A "reward", as the Benefactor said, for their "hard work".

Disgusting. But there's no point in ignoring the new floor and whatever oddities may be present here. So Aventurine takes the stairs up, studying all the new rooms carefully. The first is an art studio - painting materials, all sorts of markers and pens, as well as several tools for sculpture and pottery. It's not really Aventurine's sort of place, so he leaves and moves on. Up next is a gym with plenty of heavy machinery. Something worth checking over later, he supposes. Maybe he'll even use it, if he gets bored enough.

But it's the final room that really catches his interest - it's laser tag! Aventurine blinks a few times before checking out the equipment and quickly figuring out that this is a game to play. He messes with the control room for a bit before setting it up for a match.

As you approach, Aventurine pokes his head out of the room with a grin.]

You wouldn't care to play a game with me, would you?

[This is thankfully not a card game or a game of chance...]

all fun and games;
[Someone has made a very stupid mistake. They've decided that a party would be a good idea, and with it, they've included all sorts of games to play. It likely isn't a surprise that Aventurine's here - after all, he's outgoing and friendly with everyone here - and it's likely even less of a surprise which table he's at.

This one has cards set up. They're a simple deck and Aventurine is shuffling them with a smug look.]

Are you here to play a game with me? How delightful.

[...Please pull him to any other activity otherwise he'll be here all night beating everyone at cards.]

Meeting

[personal profile] justscribing 2024-06-01 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Alhaitham listens, observes more than he speaks. It isn't as though he has much to add, anyway. Nobody has found anything useful for escaping, although he mentally notes a few interesting details. He knew it wouldn't be simple to escape, however, to the lack of productivity in their introductory meeting is neither a surprise nor a concern.

He hadn't really intended to engage with Aventurine while entering the kitchen, but he's beckoned with a question that catches his interest enough to stop.]

That depends if you're looking for thoughts on the situation we're in or the people here.

[Oho, calling him out on the real question already, huh?]

A little of both, if you're so inclined. Our fellow captives are quite interesting, aren't they?

[It's said in a completely neutral tone, as if he's observing them rather than actually dealing with them personally. And to some extent, he is; Aventurine has a tendency to watch the others whenever they're all gathered, and he's been busy forming opinions on all of them - Alhaitham included.]

Some of them are. [And some of them are people wholly disinteresting to Alhaitham. Aventurine isn't one of them, and it's precisely because of his sharp observation. How could Alhaitham not recognize his own habit, after all? In a situation like this, that makes Aventurine as much a fruitful ally as it does a threat.

His gaze flickers in a once over and he folds his arms.]
We can at least discern that whoever is behind this has both the wealth and power to compromise multiple people without any concern about their extravagant setup being disrupted. As for their motive... we know too little to create an accurate profile, but I believe this is likely for entertainment rather than study.

[Ah, not even bothering to play dumb around him, huh? Aventurine can certainly appreciate that - and the words remind him of something Ratio would say. It settles him a bit, and Aventurine rests a hand on his hip as he nods.]

I'd imagine we'd be in a proper lab if this were for study, but perhaps our little overseer is doing things their way. Too soon to tell, really.

[Which is frustrating, but more or less expected of this situation.]

Have you tried talking to them yet?

[Aside from the initial meeting with the Benefactor, there's a phone in each of the rooms that connects only to the Benefactor's line. It's an old-fashioned phone, the kind that has a proper dial, but attempting to input any numbers doesn't work.]

[personal profile] justscribing 2024-06-03 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[There are aspects that make Alhaithan's more sure it isn't research: the overwrought set-up, or the inherent difficulty of being able to repeat and recreate the situation in a timely manner.

And the direct contact with their overseer for anything other than an emergency. If it was research, it would be so embarrassingly badly set up it would shame even first-years at the Akademiya.]

No. Have you?

[Someone would have tried, of course. It never had to be him.]

I have, yes.

[No sense in lying about it - as of right now, it's better to keep his options open, so hiding information from the others would be truly foolish.]

He's been as infuriatingly vague as you'd expect, though. The most I was really able to get out of him was a cryptic "wait in see" with regards to how exactly all of this will work if someone does decide to play his little game.

[That's not really a lie; Aventurine really didn't get anything useful from him. But it isn't the full truth either. After all, a gambler keeps their cards to themselves.]

[Alhaitham hums. He didn'texpect confronting the Benefactor to be where they get the most important answers. But it is a path to be eliminated.

And he's curious.]
What was it you asked him?

[personal profile] schematics 2024-06-04 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, just a few things.

[A dainty wave of his fingers may make it seem like that's all he's going to say, but after a moment of silence, Aventurine adds:]

I wanted to clarify some of the rules. The most I got is that he certainly seems convinced that someone will kill.

[Given the way this place is set up, he could just withhold food from them until someone kills and that would likely get someone to crack eventually. But Aventurine's guessing there's more to it than that.]

[Alhaitham is patient. Aventurine drags it out, and Alhaitham only continues to fix him with the same unwavering stare.

After a moment he leans back against the kitchen counter, folding his arms.]
Humans will generally prioritize their own survival when pushed.

[Though most people at the meeting had rejected the possibility--been offended by it, even. That's also normal when they haven't actually been pushed in any way.]

Do you believe we were chosen at random?
