[It's been a little over ten years since the two of them arrived here. Ten years is an awfully long time to be stuck here, but returning home isn't an option anymore. It hasn't been an option since they first started changing, and that wasn't all that long after they arrived. Kimbley had grown a tail and ears and Archer's eyes had turned red. It's amazing to think they had been so scared by those changes back then.

Things are different now. They aren't human, but there's no reason for that to bother them. Archer is a vampire (something that he found painfully ironic in the beginning, but he's adapted quite well to it, if he does say so himself). Not much has changed about him, appearance-wise. His nails are much longer and sharper, his eyes are red, and he has the stereotypical vampire fangs, but aside from that the only difference is the slight point to his ears. It's not like he could get any paler anyway.

Archer enters their shared apartment after work, shrugging off his coat and hanging it up before proceeding into the living room.]

Kimbley, are you home yet?

[It certainly is. Archer doesn't know what to say in response to it either, but he eventually sets the book aside and gets up.]

It's getting late. I should probably get some sleep.

[Dawn isn't for another couple of hours, but it's easier to try to sleep than it is to deal with how awkward things have gotten.]

[He's certainly not going to complain.]

I'll...

[But he cuts himself off, shrugging, because he doesn't know what to say.]

I'll see you when you wake up.

[Hopefully things won't be this awkward tomorrow night...]

[Well, when Kimbley wakes up a few hours before sundown, he's going to pretend that nothing is the matter. That conversation last night was extremely awkward and he's pretty damn content to forget about it.

He doesn't need to leave the apartment anytime soon, so he's going to awkwardly hover around instead.]

[Smart man. Archer's going to ignore it as well!]

Good evening.

[As usual, he's perfectly dressed and fixing his hair when he enters the living room.]

Evening.

[He watches Archer for a moment, grinning.]

You doing anything tonight?

No, I have tonight off as well. Tomorrow I have several meetings, so if there's anything you want to do, it'll have to be tonight.

[viliorate]

Maybe we should do something. I like taking advantage of our time off, you know.

It's not often our days off overlap.

So do I. What do you want to do?

[viliorate]

I'm sure you can imagine what I want to do.

[Since it's always the same thing...]

Maybe you should pick for a change.

You know I don't do much for fun.

[More like "I don't do anything for fun".]

I don't have anything in mind.

[viliorate]

I don't know. I'd say our hunts are pretty fun.

[KIMBLEY]

Well yes, but that's done through necessity, not for fun.

[...Well, not usually for fun.]

[viliorate]

[It's always done for fun on Kimbley's part....]

I'm sure you could find another way to feed if you really wanted to. There's no reason to join me all the time.

If I don't come along, who's going to keep an eye on you?

[He's smirking though, so clearly he's aware that he's being paranoid.]

[viliorate]

Hm, you're not worried I'm going to get hurt, are you?

[It's a miracle that Kimbley hasn't been stabbed with a silver knife.]

Of course I am, but that's nothing unusual is it?

[Please don't get stabbed, Kimbley.]

[viliorate]

You shouldn't worry so much.

[You should always worry about him. If it weren't for Archer he'd be dead in a ditch somewhere.]

You know how I am. I always worry.

[...Let's ignore that, it's a terrifying thought.]

[viliorate]

I know.

[He still doesn't think it's needed but that won't stop Archer.]

[Of course it won't, nothing will stop him from worrying!]

At least one of us is concerned about your safety.

[He's smirking though, so obviously he's teasing.]

[viliorate]

[That earns a laugh.]

Maybe you have a point. You wouldn't let me leave without you.

Of course not. What if something happened to you?

[He'd never forgive himself for starters.]

[viliorate]

[Ten years ago, he would have responded with something along the lines of "who cares," but after this long he actually hesitates.]

Nothing's going to happen to me.

[sadisticwarfare]

Not while I'm around it won't.

[It's not like he's always going to be in a position to help, but it's much easier to pretend than it is to acknowledge that someday Kimbley might be seriously hurt or even die.]
