LOCKED TO alchemicals

[He doesn't remember anything. All he knows is that there's a bright light in his face and he just wants to sleep. After a couple of minutes of tossing and turning he finally opens his eyes and sits up. The room he's in is perfectly white, without any sort of interesting features. There's a desk and a chair, but nothing on either of them. They're as white as the walls and floor, and on closer inspection, the bed he's in is just as white and spotless as the rest of the room. The sheets are a bit on the stiff side even though he's been sleeping under them, and the bed is kind of hard for his liking, so he finally squirms out from under the covers and stands.

The clothes he's wearing strike him as being wrong, though he can't recall what the "right" clothes would be. They're white - like everything else - and they're very simple. He doesn't have anything to compare them to, but the material is soft and kind of thin and feels a little odd. He shrugs off his confusion about the clothes and starts for the door. Even the doorknob is white, which strikes him as strange for about half a second before he yanks the door open.

The room that he enters is spacious. Like the room he woke up in, everything is white. There's a sofa, a small table in front of the sofa, and a couple of plush chairs. There's a couple of doors leading elsewhere, and his first order of business is to see where they lead. One leads to a perfectly white kitchen which isn't interesting right now (though some part of him wonders if the food will be just as white) and the other door he comes to is locked. There should be a front door around here somewhere though, right? He doesn't want to be here. He can't remember why he's here (or anything, really) but being here doesn't seem right.]

I guess that's the only thing that makes even a little sense, but... what about our memories? What the fuck did they do to us?

[alchemicals]

[Hmm.]

...Do you know about anything that can do that? Like the...scanning stuff you were talking about yesterday. I don't remember anything like that, but apparently you do, so...

[deaftly]

[Naki frowns, lost in thought. He doesn't have any memories to help him along, but from what basics he can remember...]

Nope. I don't think there's anything like that where I'm from. I don't know anything about medicine and shit though - at least, I don't think I do - so maybe something there...?

[The other option is surgery, but he's not sure how that would work on him.]

[...You know, that's kind of brought up a valid point somehow.]

It's weird, though, isn't it? We can remember all sorts of random inconsequential shit about whatever country we came from, like how tills work and how to write and shit, but we can't remember anything about us or what we did there.

[deaftly]

Yeah. So it's not like they completely wiped our memories, they just took out any... um... identifying shit? Things that might help us figure out who we are - or who we were. I wonder why?

[alchemicals]

It's probably important somehow. Hell if I know how - maybe we found something out that they don't want us knowing.

[And that thought strikes him a little strangely; had he known something? He doubts it - he isn't sure why anyone would trust him with something important like that - but...]

[deaftly]

Maybe... I dunno, it's just... really weird. And frustrating. I mean, you think they'd at least let me remember about not being human!

[alchemicals]

[He hesitates at that; it's...honestly a damn good thing they worked that out, given the shit that's in the fridge, isn't it...]

Yeah, that one was a little messed up.

[deaftly]

[SORRY, KIMBLEY]

Exactly - I remember some vague shit like the barcodes and all, so why couldn't I remember that? You think that'd be pretty important.

[alchemicals]

[...]

...You promise me that you don't know what that is you're supposed to be eating? I have no way to know if you're lying to me, but just...you swear, you have no fucking idea?

[deaftly]

Why would I lie to you?

[Naki looks appalled at the idea.]

I dunno what kind of meat's in there. I've been trying to remember but... nothing.

[alchemicals]

...Look, don't ask me how I know this, because I don't know. But I get the feeling that I know what it is, and if I'm right it's probably the reason why humans finding out about you is a really bad thing.

[deaftly]

...That... doesn't sound good...

[Naki's eyes go wide, but they don't shift to the weird black sclera just yet.]

What... is it?

[alchemicals]

I'm...pretty sure you eat people.

[deaftly]

People...?

[..................]

Wait, you mean to tell me that's human flesh in there!? What the actual fuck!?

[alchemicals]

Yeah, that's what I'm telling you. That's what it felt like, anyway - I can't really explain how it "felt like" that, because you know I didn't touch that shit, but I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

[...]

It's one of those things that seems familiar, you know?

[deaftly]

I... I...

[Naki shakes his head slowly, still trying to process this.]

S-So you just... knew what it was somehow? I guess you don't have any idea how though?

[That's easier to focus on, so he'll try to deal with that.]

[alchemicals]

[Somehow he hadn't figured for the notion that this might actually fuck Naki up; if anything, he'd thought it'd be kind of like the healing was. It's messed up, but not really a surprise.

He doesn't really know what to do with the reaction he's getting; after a moment he just kind of shakes his head a bit.]

No idea. It just...seemed like something that I recognized as being human. I don't know what about it caused that, but something did.

[deaftly]

I don't really get it, but I trust you.

[Maybe it's dumb to trust him after a day, but that's not weird for Naki.]

[alchemicals]

I don't get it either - it...kind of freaked me out a bit, if we're all being honest with each other right now.

I'm pretty sure people can't just know shit like that, but I don't know why my head would have just made up something morbid like that otherwise.

[deaftly]

Y-Yeah, I don't... I don't know why you'd make something like that up. It doesn't make sense.

[To be fair, it doesn't make sense that he eats people, but apparently that's a thing.]

It's just... God, it's so fucked up.

[alchemicals]

[He's quiet for a moment. Hesitating, more than anything.]

Look, I meant what I said about not being scared of you. I'm not. If you come after me, I'm going to fight you and from what I've seen of you I'm probably going to be fucked, but unless that happens I can be fine with you. Okay?

[deaftly]

I'm not gonna go after you!

[Naki's eyes do shift then. The sclera turn black, but this time he doesn't react to it. He looks somewhere between shocked and horrified, shaking his head repeatedly.]

No way, I wouldn't do that! I like you, I'm not gonna--!!

[But he doesn't finish that thought. He doesn't want to finish that thought.]

[alchemicals]

[He finally lets himself breathe at that; he hadn't realized he wasn't until that broken statement at the end.]

Yeah, I didn't think you would. You're a pretty okay guy, you know? I didn't think you'd do anything to me.

[...That said, man, that is weird as hell.]

...How do you do that thing with your eyes, though?

[deaftly]

[Naki relaxes as well, though his eyes don't shift back.]

Good! Good, I wouldn't want you to think that I'd... do something like that to you. I wouldn't.

[At Kimbley's question, he absently reaches up to poke at the corner of his eye.]

Um, I dunno. It just sorta... happens? I mean I can kind of feel it happen but...
