LOCKED TO alchemicals

[He doesn't remember anything. All he knows is that there's a bright light in his face and he just wants to sleep. After a couple of minutes of tossing and turning he finally opens his eyes and sits up. The room he's in is perfectly white, without any sort of interesting features. There's a desk and a chair, but nothing on either of them. They're as white as the walls and floor, and on closer inspection, the bed he's in is just as white and spotless as the rest of the room. The sheets are a bit on the stiff side even though he's been sleeping under them, and the bed is kind of hard for his liking, so he finally squirms out from under the covers and stands.

The clothes he's wearing strike him as being wrong, though he can't recall what the "right" clothes would be. They're white - like everything else - and they're very simple. He doesn't have anything to compare them to, but the material is soft and kind of thin and feels a little odd. He shrugs off his confusion about the clothes and starts for the door. Even the doorknob is white, which strikes him as strange for about half a second before he yanks the door open.

The room that he enters is spacious. Like the room he woke up in, everything is white. There's a sofa, a small table in front of the sofa, and a couple of plush chairs. There's a couple of doors leading elsewhere, and his first order of business is to see where they lead. One leads to a perfectly white kitchen which isn't interesting right now (though some part of him wonders if the food will be just as white) and the other door he comes to is locked. There should be a front door around here somewhere though, right? He doesn't want to be here. He can't remember why he's here (or anything, really) but being here doesn't seem right.]

I... guess? Yeah, that might make sense. But I don't get it, why would they put us somewhere like this, unless...

[Naki freezes, eyes narrowing as he thinks.]

Hang on. That room-- the one we woke up in. It didn't have any windows, did it? But it was bright when I woke up so...

[He gets up from the chair slowly and makes his way back to the room, hesitating at the door.]

...You think it's a one-way window there? We can't see them, but they can see us?

[alchemicals]

...Shit, maybe.

[He'll just be getting up and wandering over there with you, if you don't mind.]

What sort of sick asshole does this kind of thing?

[deaftly]

I... I don't know.

[Naki finally pushes open the door and approaches the wall. The thing he thought was a window letting in sunlight definitely is bright, but it's not a window. It looks sort of like glass, but he can't see through it. He slams his hand against it just to test; it's very thick, as expected. While they probably could fit through there, breaking it probably isn't an option.]

Shit...

[He steps back from it carefully. There's something about this that is striking him as terrifying - far more so than he'd normally think. At least, that's what it seems like.]

This is really fucked up...

[He's not sure what to say or do though, so he falls silent, absently clenching and releasing his fists.]

[alchemicals]

...Damn it.

[The words are quiet, just under his breath; what follows is decidedly less so.]

Hey, don't be freaked out, okay? We're going to get the fuck out of here.

[...And that is when he goes from zero to completely pissed in approximately point-six; it takes him no time at all to join Naki at the glass, slamming his hand against it roughly three or four times before just kind of letting loose at it.]

Motherfucker, I know you're watching this shit! Get in here like a fucking man so I can beat your ass!!

[deaftly]

[It's weird, but he appreciates the words. They don't do much to settle him, but it looks like his companion's outburst is enough to redirect Naki's energy. Panicking isn't going to solve anything, he knows that much. Banging on the glass and shrieking probably won't either, but it sounds way more productive. With a grin that doesn't look entirely sane, Naki joins Kimbley in banging on the glass.]

You son of a bitch, let us out! I'm not gonna stay fucking cooped up in here for your amusement!! Let us out or we'll fucking break out!

[He slams his knuckles a bit too hard on the glass and there's a distinct sound of something cracking.]

Ahh-- shit--

[Naki pulls back to examine his hand, wincing. Uncurling his hand isn't an option right now and already blood's starting to well up from the injury. His middle knuckle is smashed to all hell and the others aren't looking much better.]

Shit-- Fuck...

[It hurts, he can't deny that, but for some reason it doesn't seem all that surprising. He really should have been more careful...]

[alchemicals]

[...Well, at least that managed something, though admittedly "breaking the fuck out of Naki's hand" wasn't exactly what he'd planned on managing.]

What the-

[And once again he finds himself just sort of staring; he has absolutely no idea what to do with that, but he does know it kind of weirds him out in a way that he can't really explain outside of "god, why wouldn't you be more careful with your hands"...]

Are you going to be okay? I don't do first-aid shit - or I guess I might but I don't remember how...

[deaftly]

[Naki stares at his hand, lost in thought. Something about this is wrong. It takes him a moment to figure it out, but when he does, he looks sort of lost.]

...I think it'll be okay. It doesn't hurt that much anymore.

[That's just it - it doesn't. In fact, Naki's knuckles begin to fix themselves as he speaks, with a strange crackle of something as the bones and skin knit back together. It only takes about a minute for him to flex his hand and the pain to fade entirely. The blood's still there, but that's easily wiped off.]

...Huh.

[He suspects he should have a stronger reaction to watching his injuries heal like that, but for some reason this isn't weird at all.]

[alchemicals]

[...I'M SORRY, DID WE SAY STRONG REACTION]

What the hell was that?!

[It's not the most eloquent of reactions, but he is fairly sure that if there were people around he would have just made himself the voice of them.]

Are you hiding any other special talents?? Because that isn't something you just go "Huh" to like everything's fine!

[deaftly]

Well, it's not surprising! It's just something I do, I guess!

[He flexes his hand again before shrugging and turning to his companion.]

I dunno if I'm hiding anything else, I can't remember! I mean, if there is anything else I'm sure it'll come up at some point! But it's not like I'm keeping shit from you on purpose or anything! I just can't remember anything!!

[Naki's agitated but not angry. He turns his attention back to the glass for a moment.]

...I guess we're not gonna get the fucker's attention this way.

[Something occurs to him then and Naki immediately leaves the room without speaking. He makes his way to the kitchen and yanks open the refrigerator. Sure enough, there's food in there.]

I think I might have an idea about how to get the fuckers to show themselves though!

[He's grinning, but it's not a pleasant expression.]

They've left us food here, so they're obviously expecting us to be here for awhile, right? They aren't gonna starve us - which is good - but what happens when we run out of food? They're gonna have to replace it, right?

[alchemicals]

[...Naki, this is probably the dumbest idea he's ever heard - ]

Let me guess. We jump whoever comes in and get the hell out.

It's at least worth a shot.

[deaftly]

Of fucking course we do! So all we've gotta do is get rid of all this shit!

[There's... a lot in here, actually. Yikes, how much are they expecting them to eat?

It doesn't take Naki long to notice that everything in here is completely unappetizing however, which he suspects might be a little weird since there's so much food. It's as he's digging through the drawers that he finds something a little different.]

...Huh?

[There are several containers with a piece of paper taped to the lids. All of them have his name on them. Naki tips his head as he lifts one of the containers, trying to get a look at what's inside without taking the lid off.]

[alchemicals]

[...Jesus, that is a lot of food. Though if you think he hasn't noticed - ]

Hey, you going to share with the class?

[deaftly]

It's got my name on it for some reason. Am I just not supposed to eat the rest or what...?

[He finally tears the lid off it and frowns. It's definitely meat but he has no idea what kind of meat it is, and something about it being refrigerated is kind of gross. He's immediately aware that it smells fantastic in comparison to everything else though.]

[alchemicals]

Hell if I know.

[...just let him look at what's in there in general.]

...If that's the case, though, how the hell much do they think I'm going to eat? Have whatever you want, I don't give a damn.

[deaftly]

[Naki puts the lid back on the container and shoves it back in the drawer.]

Well, I'm not hungry right now-- ah, right we're gonna get rid of it all.

[For some strange reason, he gets the feeling that eating in front of Kimbley would be really bad. He has no idea why, but it's making him uneasy.]

Though I seriously doubt we could eat all this anyway.

[alchemicals]

We probably could, but we won't be in much condition to do anything afterwards.

[The concession comes easily enough, but that isn't changing the fact that Naki's reaction isn't hitting him right.]

...You okay?

[deaftly]

Huh? Yeah, 'course I am. Why wouldn't I be?

[His words are a bit aggressive, but he has no idea why he's so agitated about this. It's just food. The magically healing knuckles should have been more of a concern than this.]

[alchemicals]

I don't know, maybe because of whatever crawled up your ass and died all of a sudden? You're acting weird.

[deaftly]

I am not!! What the fuck's wrong with you!?

[alchemicals]

Yeah, you are! You were all weirdly enthusiastic until about three seconds ago, and then you just backed off all of a sudden and now you're getting defensive as shit! You're acting weird!

[deaftly]

I'm not acting fucking weird, fuck off!!

[That's when the shift happens and Naki can feel it happening. His eyes change - not the irises, which are still a bright, uncanny red - but the sclera, which alter to black instead of white. He doesn't know exactly what's happened, but he knows that it's bad and Naki immediately backs up. He's scared, not angry, and in a few seconds his eyes shift back to normal. The feeling wasn't strange at all, but there was something else there that he could almost remember. He's not sure what it was, but it isn't good, he knows that much.]

[alchemicals]

Shit -

[And that will get Kimbley to back right the hell up, only to be brought to an abrupt halt by his back hitting the cabinets; he stumbles a little before catching himself and it takes him a moment to get his bearings.

He seems more startled than flat-out afraid, though; just the same, it takes him a moment to figure out words.]

You...You are not human, are you...

[He's got no idea what he thinks the guy is, but "not human" seems like a decent place to start.]

[deaftly]

[That gets Naki to flinch and he goes from looking scared to downright terrified. He can't seem to figure out what to do with his hands, but eventually he raises them as if to shield himself. He messes with the collar of his shirt with one hand while the other finally settles against his arm. Naki can't keep his eyes on Kimbley and instead looks anywhere but at the other man, all while continuing to back up. He hits the table, starts a bit, and maneuvers his way around it. For some reason he can't come up with anything to say, because telling Kimbley he is human seems to be a blatant lie at this point, but admitting to being something else is what's causing him to panic so badly. He has no idea why, he just knows that having someone find out about this is a very bad thing.]

[alchemicals]

[...Shit. Okay. Okay, let's just...breathe for a moment and try to work out what the fuck to even say to that, because of all reactions he could have gotten he was admittedly not expecting that one.]

...Hey. Hey, come on. I'm not scared of you or going to beat your ass or anything, I just want to know what the hell's going on.

[deaftly]

I... I don't know.

[His voice is very quiet, and for a moment Naki's not even sure if he spoke. He shakes his head and tries again.]

I don't... I can't remember shit. I don't know why it's bad, but it's... it's really bad.

[It's the only explanation he can offer and he knows it's not a good one. If he could remember anything else that would help...]
